10 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know

No matter how busy you get with school, health should come first. Below we give you 10 basic beauty tips to follow that will not only make you look better (if that’s possible), we promise you’ll feel better too!

1. Catch Some Zzz’s

Getting a good night sleep can be difficult when you are in school. Whether staying up to finish homework, or spending the night out with friends, your beauty rest is hindered. But sleeping is crucial to your appearance. Not only does it enhance your beauty, but it energizes you – giving you the motivation to get through each day. Because of this physical and emotional impact, it’s important to rest between 7 and 9 hours a night. If you start getting less than 5 or 6 hours on a regular bases, you could begin seeing negative results, especially on your skin.

2. Exercise Daily

Exercise whenever you can. Either running, swimming, yoga, Zumba, weights, or whatever you’re most comfortable with – just do it. It’s a great stress reliever; a big culprit of negative effects to your body. Stress can cause breakouts, weight gain, sleep deprivation and more. And remember, exercising does not mean you have to hit the gym for 2 hours daily. Shoot for as little as 30 minutes, but anything is better than nothing!

3. Watch Your Eating Habits

Like they say, “you are what you eat.” Our diets play a huge role in our beauty. Constantly consuming pizza, tacos and the cafe sushi will take a toll on you. Indulging in these craving once in a while is okay, but you will quickly see the negative effects of a poor diet if you don’t moderate. Your body needs nutrients to radiate. Taking in enough protein, vegetables and fruits are important and will increase your shine.

4. Hydrate

Staying hydrated will work wonders for your health and your appearance. If you drink enough water every day you will see the results in your skin and hair, and overall you will just feel better. Hydrating is extremely important and just as easy to do. A good trick is to buy a cute water bottle that you don’t mind trotting around with you. Make sure to always have it filled so there’s no excuse not to drink!

5. Exfoliate and Moisturize

Soft flawless skin is every girls “goal” right? By exfoliating at least three times a week and hydrating your skin with facial lotions and/or serums, you will be one step closer. Vitamin C, olive oil and green tea are great ingredients to look for in skin care products.

6. Scrub Your Lips

Kylie Jenner does not have to be the only one with fearless lips. Scrubbing your lips with either a homemade lip scrub or Lush’s yummy scrub will have your lips looking luscious in no time. After scrubbing, use a moisturizing lip balm; this will give your lips a silky smooth base to apply your lipstick on.

7. Use SPF

Using a daily facial SPF is extremely beneficial for your skin, as the sun’s harmful rays can quickly add years onto your face. Things like brown spots, skin discoloration and premature wrinkles will begin to show. Pick a moisturizer that includes a dose of SPF and you will be “killing two birds with one stone.”

8. Hair Treatment

Fall is here, so now it’s time to care for your damaged summer hair. Applying coconut oil to the tips of your locks before bed time will help reduce the appearance of damaged ends and give your hair a healthy shiny glow. Look for products with natural oils, glycerin or shea butter. Stay away from shampoos with mineral oils and petrolatum. Also, try to trim your hair every 6 to 8 weeks to get rid of those scraggly ends.

 9. Be Kind to Your Eyes

Puffy eyes will never be in style. Waking up with swollen eyes is never fun but it can easily be taken care of. You can stop by Sephora and pick up an eye cream (I recommend the First Aid Beauty Detox Eye Roller) or go for the natural way and use some tea bags. Placing cold spoons under your eye is also known to diminish puffiness, while Vitamin E oil provides good moisture to the sensitive skin.

 10. Pearly Whites

Your teeth say more about you than you think, so makes sure you’re a giving the right impression. There are tons of ways to get that great smile. I recommend using Crest 3D White Toothpaste and the mouth wash. I also use the Crest Whitening strips which work wonders. If you don’t want to splurge on the name brand products, you can also try pouring a small amount of Peroxide on a Q-tip and applying this to your teeth. Let it sit for about a minute and then brush as you would normally.
