10 Artists To Listen To When You’re In Your Feels

Everyone is bound to get in their feels at some point, and what’s better than listening to music to channel your inner mood. If you’re a frequent Spotify listener like myself, check out these 10 Artists To Listen To When You’re In Your Feels.

No matter if you’re going through a breakup, fighting with a friend, or just feeling down, listening to music can be a great way to distract your mind and reduce some stress. As a music lover my whole life, music has become an immediate escape from whatever is going on in my life at any time. This article includes a variety of some of my favorite artists featured on any of my slow, sad songs playlists that will relate to you when you’re in your feels.

1. Lorde

Lorde is one of the best artists for when you’re in your feels, but also one of my all time favorite artists to listen to anytime. I’ll never forget when Lorde released her first album “Pure Heronine” in 2013. We all heard the song Royals play on the radio, but I always wondered why they wouldn’t play the rest of her amazing music. Lorde wrote this album when she was only 17 years old, speaking like a true teen experiencing the crazy yet exciting time of your teenage years. Her next album, “Melodrama” released in 2017 continued to capture the essence of personal emotions better than ever, making her music relatable to everyone, yet still artistically so different than any other artist. I truly don’t think there’s one bad song on any of Lorde’s album, making her a true icon of our generation.

2. Cigarettes After Sex

The first I listened to the band Cigarettes After Sex I was in complete awe of how beautifully real their music is. Their lyrics are often based on the themes of romance and love, some showing the good side and some the bad, making them one of the ultimate artists for when you’re in your feels. The band creates a nostalgic feeling throughout their songs, that get you in your feels even if you are single AF. I highly suggest checking out this band if you haven’t yet because you definitely won’t be disappointed.

3. Beach House

The musical duo Beach House creates music that is a mixture of dream pop and indie rock. Their album titled “Depression Cherry” perfectly captures the theme of sadness, as the title suggests. Their music touches on heavy topics such as love, dealing with loss, letting go, pain, and getting older. Ive found that Beach House has created some of my all time favorite songs for when I’m in a chill mood and just want to blast my music and clear my mind of any negative thoughts. Their music is honestly so different than anything I’ve heard before, between the uniquely beautiful vocals and use of various musical instruments.

4. Sharon Von Etten

Sharon Von Etten is a less well known singer from my list of artists for when you’re in your feels, so if you haven’t listened yet you definitely should! Her music is described of having echos of folk tradition and her lyrics speak on relatable feelings, such as dealing with the complications of self reflection. Her hit son “Seventeen” is the perfect song for when you’re feeling nostalgic and thinking about your past. Her beautiful voice mixed with unique harmonies such good music for when you’re driving alone in your car at night.

5. Cage The Elephant

The American rock band Cage The Elephant has been one of my favorite bands since middle school. I mean who can’t say “Cigarette Daydreams” isn’t one of their most played songs when in your feels. This band has a variety of popular upbeat songs, like “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked,” and “Come a Little Closer,” but also writes some of my favorite slower music like the song “Telescope.” They take on a combination of ’90s alternative, classic rock, and punk rock to create their exquisite sound.

6. Lana Del Rey

Oh Lana. I could probably write a whole essay on how much I love Lana Del Rey and why. Lana has truly shaped herself from that Tumblr girl aesthetic we all know and love to a world known artist. In my opinion, there is no other artist as unique and special as Lana Del Rey. She is known as the queen of sad girl hours, showing a more glamorized take on sadness and the tragedies of romance, making her at the top of Artists For When You’re In Your Feels. Her 2012 album, “Born To Die” was her first big break as an artist, clearly distinguishing her brand from other artists. You may know her more popular songs like “Summertime Sadness” or “Young and Beautiful,” but there’s so much more to Lana’s style of music. I highly recommend checking out all her albums which each have their own different aesthetic, in addition to her hundreds of unreleased songs on Youtube.

7. Taylor Swift

Before overlooking Taylor Swift as just another popular artist on the radio, consider listening to her full albums before judging. I know myself and others have truly grown up with her music, unlike any other artist. Taylor is most known for singing about her past relationships, but that is not all she does. Since 2008 Taylor has been receiving Grammy Awards left and right, and continues to make incredible music. She is one of those artists that has grown up with her fans, doing everything from country, to pop and folk music. Between her various albums, there are so many relatable songs that describe the feelings of relationships so clearly. From first developing a crush, to being in happy then not so good relationships, then how to move on, she truly does it all.

8. The 1975

The band The 1975 can be described as an English pop rock band whose lyrics touch on topics such as the dark and youthful themes of sex, love, and fear, making them one of the ultimate artists for when you’re in your feels. The lead singer, Matt Healy, creates a sound like no other and doesn’t mind capturing a recklessness, off the rail feeling that many people can relate to, whether they want to admit it or not.

9. Sky Ferreira

Sky Ferreira is an incredible artist, who began uploading singing videos of herself to Myspace in 2009. Once she was discovered, she began producing a couple EP’s and one album, but is most well known for her song “Everything is Embarrassing.” I have fond memories of myself blasting this song in middle school when listening to Artists For When You’re In Your Feels, and to this day it still remains one of my favorite songs to listen to. It has been said to be “one of the best songs of recent years” from various music critics when it was officially released as a single in 2013.

10. The Wombats

If you’re a forewent TikTok user then does “smashing mics in karaoke bars” sound familiar? Well if so, then you have discovered the iconic band The Wombats and their popular song “Greek Tragedy.” They are an English indie rock band who started off very popular in the UK and Australia, but have made their way to fans in the US. Check them out if you’re looking for new Artists For When You’re In Your Feels.
